It is an unfortunate fact that many homeowners tragically lose their lives because of apathy expressed toward home fire drills. EDITH, or Exit Drills In The Home, and Learn Not To Burn are two programs recently implemented by fire departments nationwide to counter such attitudes. Both of these programs, developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), accentuate the installation and maintenance of smoke detection equipment and teach users to establish an evacuation procedure for all occupants and conduct fire drills at regular intervals to practice what has been adopted.
