The Anasazi were Native American people who lived in a territory covering present-day southern Colorado, Utah, northern New Mexico, and Arizona from about the second century A.D. The Pueblo people are their descendants. Anasazi culture included an early Basket Maker phase, and several Pueblo periods, the last of which continued from about 1050 to 1300. After this period, they had contact with Europeans. During the late thirteenth century, they migrated southward. The Anasazi were expert at weaving, painted pottery, and stone and shell carving. They built stone apartments in caves and cliffs. A good title for this passage would be:
